Key Responsibilities : As a Certified Police Officer with the City of Thomaston, you'll take on a range of critical duties, including :

Patrol our city streets to detect and deter criminal activity, enforce laws, and respond promptly to emergency calls, ensuring the safety and security of our residents and visitors.

Conduct thorough investigations into criminal activities, make arrests, gather evidence, and prepare compelling cases for prosecution, upholding the highest standards of justice and accountability.

Forge strong relationships with community members, provide assistance, and offer support to foster trust and cooperation, demonstrating our commitment to public service.

Required Qualifications : To qualify for this role, you must possess :

Hold a valid Georgia Basic Peace Officer Certification, showcasing your dedication to maintaining the highest standards of law enforcement professionalism.

Bring one to two years of experience as a Certified Police Officer, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field.

Maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable motor vehicle record, enabling you to respond swiftly to calls and maintain a safe community.

Demonstrate unwavering dedication to public safety by passing extensive background checks, psychological screenings, and pre-employment physicals and drug screenings.

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, complemented by specialized training in law enforcement principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications : While not mandatory, the following attributes are highly valued :

Prior involvement in community policing, crime prevention, or outreach programs, showcasing your ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations.

Additional certifications or training in areas such as crisis intervention, narcotics investigation, or K-9 handling, enhancing your effectiveness in various law enforcement tasks.
