About Rockville Correctional Facility
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Rockville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Rockville Correctional Facility is an intake and medium security facility for adult females. Rockville Correctional Facility is located in Rockville, Indiana. The Department of Correction developed the facility from an Air Force base into a juvenile male facility, to co-ed, and now to adult females alone, making it the largest female facility. The Rockville Correctional Facility serves as the intake unit for women in the Department of Correction, which involves a series of assessments to ensure each incarcerated individual is assigned to the facility and programming that best meets their needs. Incarcerated individuals have multiple educational and vocational training opportunities, including cosmetology, parenting support, and a partnership with Televerde that includes training and work opportunities inside the facility and post-release.
Role Overview
As a Correctional Officer at the Rockville Correctional Facility, you will be responsible for working as a part of a team in a minimum security Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) facility for adult females. During a typical 12-hour shift, you will maintain the security of the unit as well as the safety of staff and incarcerated individuals, while ensuring daily activities and programs proceed on schedule. During the 2-week pay period, Correctional Officers will work 85.75 hours. This consists of 7 total shifts, including 1 weekend.
Salary
This position starts at a $22 / hour base pay + $1 / hour of differential pay, equating to $1,972.25 biweekly or $51,278.50 annually. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for a higher base pay. These figures do not account for any overtime pay an employee may earn.

Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
Difficulty of Work
Your work is physically, emotionally, and mentally demanding. As a Correctional Officer, you must maintain constant vigilance for periods of up to sixteen (16) hours at a time. The environment tends to be stressful with a threat of physical harm or injury to oneself, coworkers, incarcerated individuals, and / or the general public due to errors in judgment.
Physical Effort
Depending on the duties performed or environment setting, frequent walking, standing, climbing stairs or ladders, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and / or similar movements may be involved. This role requires keen observational and hearing skills to stay alert for possible dangerous situations.
Working Conditions
This role performs work in a cell house, dormitory, or other residential environment. This role performs work outdoors and exposure to various outdoor weather conditions, rough terrain, and wildlife may occur. This role requires a high level of attention and safety due to work activities having risk of injury or loss of life. Operations may require this role to be available after hours (on-call) and / or work rotating shifts, evenings, and weekends, or irregular hours. This role may experience periods of high stress and / or pressure. This role requires the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.
