Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Registered Respiratory Therapist Discipline : Allied Health Professional Start Date : 12 / 08 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Title : Registered Respiratory Therapist - Pediatrics Location : San Diego, CA Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day, 3x12-hour (07 : 00 - 19 : 00) Job Responsibilities and Requirements : The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will provide specialized respiratory care to pediatric patients across various critical care units, including Level IV NICU, Level I PICU, and CTICU. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway management, medication administration, and participation in high-acuity patient care involving trauma and critical cases. Key Responsibilities : Deliver respiratory therapy to neonatal, pediatric, and adolescent patients. Manage ventilators (Hamilton G5, AVEA, HFOV, C1, Astral, AirVo, Bipap V60). Administer medications via various aerosol and nebulizer systems. Perform suctioning, tracheostomy care, extubation, and airway management. Interpret arterial blood gases and troubleshoot ventilation issues. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in high-acuity critical care settings. Provide care in multiple units : NICU, PICU, CTICU, pulmonary floor, and trauma. Work every other weekend; 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Required Qualifications : Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Level IV NICU or Level I Trauma facility. California RCP License (in hand). NBRC RRT certification. BLS, PALS, NRP (Advanced only, AHA-approved). Experience with trachs, vents, suctioning, oxygen therapy, and pediatric critical care. Must be willing to work all holidays and float within scope as needed. No blocked scheduling or secondary employment allowed during assignment. Preferred Qualifications : Experience in children's hospitals. Familiarity with Epic charting system. Knowledge of advanced therapies such as Nitric Oxide and Heliox. Additional certifications : NPS (preferred). Patient Population : Infants, pediatrics, and adolescents requiring respiratory support for conditions such as asthma, bronchiolitis, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, tracheostomy / ventilator dependence, and post-surgical cardiac care.
