Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg Discipline : RN Start Date : 11 / 24 / 2025 Duration : 26 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg neuro unit night shift position requiring a compact RN license and recent ACLS and BLS certifications. Responsibilities Work in a hospital Med / Surg unit with a primary focus on neuro patients Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18 : 45 – 07 : 15), with option for 36 or 48 hours per week Nursing ratios are 1 : 6 Patient population includes general medicine and neuro cases Assignment length options available between 13 and 26 weeks Travelers are required to float first within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals Weekend requirement is 5-6 shifts per contract (approx. every other weekend) Use of EPIC for documentation and Pyxis for medication management Manager schedules shifts and no on-site RTO approvals are allowed Scrubs required in navy blue 24-hour unit orientation provided Travelers may be assigned to Storm or Hurricane Teams and may need to report in emergencies Assignment consolidation to a centralized office may occur during the contract Travelers may be preassigned to units as needed during high census Must be comfortable floating as needed according to skill set and hospital requirements Holiday coverage requires working 2 of 3 major holidays RTO is capped at 7 days maximum and not allowed during the first week of assignment or to be approved onsite Must adhere to fatigue policy : no more than 5 consecutive work days or 60 hours per week Modules must be completed pre-start and annually, delivered via online / Zoom or in-person Travel pairs allowed if working on different units Candidates residing within 50 miles are eligible for a local rate Requirements Active NC or compact RN license in hand by start date; pending is accepted for consideration Minimum 2 years Med / Surg RN experience required Current ACLS and BLS certifications required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Epic charting experience required Experience in teamwork and patient safety focus necessary NIH certification and neuro experience preferred Experience or willingness to learn charge nurse role preferred Cannot have worked as a permanent, PRN, or EP staff employee within the past 12 months at the specified health system References required by start Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626198.
