About the Department
Welcome! The Department of Life and Earth Sciences ( LES ) at Perimeter College encompasses coursework in biology, environmental science, geology, and integrated sciences. Academic pathways in Biology and Geology are available through the department, but LES courses also support other academic interests, such as chemistry, environmental science, and education.
The Life and Earth Sciences faculty is recognized for its excellence in teaching and also for its engagement in the community and professional organizations. LES also offers undergraduate research opportunities.
Life & Earth Science faculty members hold memberships in professional scientific organizations, such as the American Society for Microbiology ( ASM ), the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society ( HAPS ), the National Association of Biology Teachers ( NABT ), the National Association of Geoscience Teachers ( NAGT ) and Project Kaleidoscope ( PKAL ). Faculty members are current or past officers in the Georgia Academy of Science and its disciplinary sections and participate as judges for K-12 Science Fairs in the metro Atlanta school districts.
These initiatives and efforts support service to the community and promote pathways for study and careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
Position Description
Perimeter College invites applications for a lecturer in biology. Lecturer positions are academic year (August-May) non-tenure track appointments, which may be renewed up to six (6) years. This is a teaching-focused position : 100% of the workload is instruction. Lecturers are responsible for providing 36 credit hours of instruction per academic year and maintaining weekly office hours. Perimeter College faculty maintain a campus presence, and the successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to early undergraduate teaching and learning, and the ability to thrive in a highly diverse academic setting. Perimeter College is a multi-campus institution, and the teaching assignment may be on any of the college's campuses

Required Education
A minimum of a Master's degree required in the teaching discipline or a minimum of a Master's degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required.
