Under direct supervision of pharmacy leadership and following procedures, uses data and automated systems to monitor and detect signs of drug diversion. Uses specialized software and systems (like Automated Dispensing Units, EMR, and Suspicious Order Monitoring tools) to identify and analyze unusual patterns, trends, and exceptions in controlled substances transactions. Compiles reports and works closely with pharmacy department on staff and other healthcare professionals' diversion prevention education and training. Assists in configuring, maintaining, testing, and supporting the various pharmacy systems.
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
Experience
3 years progressive related work experience with software applications within a healthcare setting

- Knowledge of Pharmacy practice
- Thorough knowledge of computer systems, software and methods utilized in daily support of hospital based computer applications and diversion monitoring
- Thorough knowledge of system tools to be used and applicable software and hardware constraints.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares tools (flow charts, tables and diagrams) to assist in analyzing business problems for drug diversion monitoring applicationsParticipates productively in or leads minor application user group(s) using appropriate business tools (eg. Agenda, minutes, etc.)Seeks out business process improvement through better system utilization.Documents system specifications based upon user requirements leveraging appropriate tools (eg. reporting, screen, system parameters, etc)Troubleshoots and helps to resolves technical issues related to Pharmacy Automation in a timely and appropriate manner : based upon complexity, priority, available options.Develops and uses test plans for changes to applications that includes result analysis, problem correction, retest, and documentation.Completes assigned application support tasks with appropriate documentation, communication, minimal rework and by date due.Operates the Pharmacy Automation SystemsOperates pharmacy distribution automation.Serves as primary resource to identify and implement ways to maximize system capability and functionality.Provides user support, orientation, training and troubleshooting to all users.Works collaboratively with MIS, Nursing, Pharmacy and vendors to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Pharmacy.Identifies and anticipates issues.
