The Academy of Craft Training is always looking for talented tradespeople for future opportunities as a craft instructor at ACT. ACT teaches Commercial Construction, Commercial Electrical, HVAC and Mechanical Systems, and Industrial Metal Fabrication. ACT hires instructors from industry that are passionate about passing on their trade craft to the next generation! ACT has campuses in Birmingham, Mobile and Decatur Alabama.
1. Current NCCER Instructor Certification (Preferred)
2. Experience with NCCER Curriculum
1. Teach a course load appropriate to their field or discipline.
2. Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.
3. Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to students.
4. Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
5. Employ available instructional technology, i.e., the internet, telecourses, interactive technology, when appropriate.
6. Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments.
7. Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectives.
8. Incorporate core competencies into curriculum.
9. Develop, update, and post course syllabi in a timely manner.
1. Ability to develop relationships with industry partner's leadership to benefit The Academy of Craft Training.
2. Coordinate with Industry Partners in your field or discipline to place students for internships and in full time employment upon graduation.
3. Assist Employment Coordinator with placement of students for internships and permanent placement.
4. Follow student interns progress through site visits and communicating with their foreman / supervisor on the jobsite.
5. Follow graduate progression after final placement to help continue to mentor them as needed.
6. Host and lead industry advisory committee quarterly.
Working hours : 7 : 30am - 3 : 30pm Monday - Friday
Environment : Classroom, laboratory, and outdoor environment
Hazards : Working around and with tools and equipment in a simulated work environment
This role requires the ability to be on your feet for extended periods and lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
