Seeking an experienced Mainframe Engineer to join a growing team and support a mission-critical technology product. In this role, you will design, build, maintain, and support mainframe applications while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. You'll help ensure 24 / 7 system availability, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement long-term solutions that improve stability and performance.
This is a hands-on role for a skilled programmer who thrives in solving complex technical problems and supporting critical systems in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications.Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, product, and security teams to deliver solutions.Gather requirements, perform system analysis, and implement scalable solutions.Troubleshoot and resolve technical and operational issues, including root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.Support 24 / 7 production systems through a rotating on-call schedule.Integrate mainframe systems with modern technologies (e.g., Kafka, APIs).Analyze batch processes and assess impacts of system changes.Document technical solutions, standards, and procedures.Contribute to mainframe decommissioning activities and modernization initiatives.Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of software development experience.Strong programming skills in COBOL .Experience with z / OS , DB2 , and JCL .Knowledge of CICS, VSAM, MQ technologies.Experience integrating mainframe systems with modern technologies.Familiarity with batch process analysis and mainframe decommissioning.Ability to design scalable, secure, and repeatable technical solutions.Strong communication skills and ability to explain Agile concepts to partners.Proven ability to influence and implement technical standards, policies, and procedures.ITR Group offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including medical, dental, and 401(k) for eligible employees. The W2 pay range for this type of role is approximately $55.00 -$80.00 per billable hour. This range is an estimate and not a guarantee of compensation.
