Trauma Registrar

Description

Trauma Registrar at Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA. This position is full time and will work 8-hour, Day shifts

Responsible and accountable for accurately abstracting the clinical and demographic data from patient records and coding this data for injury severity and procedures completed. The trauma registrar reviews patient records in a responsible and ethical manner in order to accurately abstract and enter data into the trauma registry. The Registrar also provides statistical reports from the trauma registry as requested. The Trauma Registrar displays the ability to work independently and collaboratively with the team.

Required Qualifications :

• Coursework / Training and successful completion of Anatomy and Physiology coursework at an accredited college or university Or
• Coursework / Training and CSTR / CAISS Certification And
• Coursework / Training and successful completion of a medical terminology course. Or
• Coursework / Training and CSTR / CAISS Certification
• Within 1 year of hire : AAAM's Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course & pass
• Within 1 year of hire : Participate in a Trauma Registry Course
• Within 1 year of hire : Take an ICD-10 course or refresher every five years if previously taken and pass
• 3 years of Current work experience in an acute-care hospital with exposure to medical terminology and patient medical records.
• 1 year of must have minimum one year experience coding ICD-10-CM specific to injuries and mechanism of injuries in an Acute Care Hospital.
• 1 year of must have minimum one year of experience coding ICD-10-PCS in an Acute Care Hospital.
• 1 year of experience with EPIC Health Record System in an Acute Care Hospital setting.
• 3 years of related professional experience including extensive use of data entry and word processing systems including Word and Excel.
