DEPARTMENT : Physical Therapy
SHIFT : 8 Hour Shifts
POSITION SUMMARY
Evaluates, plans, directs and administers medically prescribed occupational therapy programs in the hospital to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part. Assists patient to reach his / her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his / her capacities. Performs administrative duties and participates in department Performance improvement, Infection control, Safety and Education programs. The staff Occupational Therapist also assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of those patients being treated by Occupational Therapist Assistants and may be assigned to orient staff and students and to assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop Occupational Therapy care plans for assigned patients, provide treatment / interventions designed to meet the care plan goals.
- Maintains fiscal accountability for department functions including; implementing cost containment strategies and monitoring expenditures in order comply with goals and objectives that support financial viability and sustainability for the District.
- Establishes departmental goals and objectives that support the Mission and Values of the District and promote quality improvement, patient centered care, and interdepartmental / interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Demonstrates professionalism, leadership, effective communication, and initiative in all job responsibilities and all duties related to the management of care management.
- Accountability for compliance with laws, regulations, and policies to demonstrate ethical behavior.
- All other duties or responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required :
Graduate of the American Occupational Therapy Association training programCurrent California Occupational Therapist license or eligible Occupational Therapist license applicantCurrent AHA BLS certificationEducation Preferred
Masters or Doctorate level educationMinimum Experience Required :
New Graduate with California license will be consideredExperience Preferred :
Experience in acute care, skilled nursing facility, outpatient, and / or subacute care settingsSkills :
Excellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracyAbility to maintain confidentiality and supervise staff.Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.Bear Valley Community Healthcare District
