DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this vital position, you will be responsible for planning, developing, directing, coordinating, and managing a comprehensive rehabilitative services program for court-committed, adjudicated delinquent residents at the center. Your role will involve actively supervising both professional and nonprofessional staff who deliver rehabilitative treatment, educational, recreational, and social development programs in alignment with bureau and agency policies.

Furthermore, you will uphold the safety and security of both staff and residents by maintaining order and discipline through the application of the least restrictive intervention techniques. The ideal candidate will serve as a positive role model, offering guidance in social and emotional development while exemplifying pro-social values and ideals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours vary between 7 : 00 AM to 3 : 00 PM, 1 : 00 PM to 9 : 00 PM or 3 : 00 PM to 11 : 00 PM, 8-hour shifts covering a 24 / 7 / 365 operation.
  • Overtime and travel as needed
  • Must be willing to accept employment at North Central Secure Treatment Unit and commute to this location in Montour County.
  • Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • One year of experience as a Youth Development Counselor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
  • One year of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program, and a bachelor's degree in the behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile justice, or criminal justice ; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program.
  • Other Requirements :

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Legal Requirements :

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
