Chancey Metals, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Utility Grinder to join our team. Grinders play a crucial role in maintaining and operating various machinery associated with drilling, sawing, deburring, grinding, countersinking, tapping, and shearing processes. The idea candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Maintain tools associated with the drilling, sawing, deburring, grinding, countersinking, tapping or shearing processes.
  • Follow process sheets and communicate discrepancies to supervision.
  • Set up and break down drilling, sawing, deburring, grinding, countersinking, tapping or shearing equipment with proper tools and fixtures.
  • Notify management of any shortages, quality issues or repairs needed on assigned equipment.
  • Operate pallet jack and forklift equipment.
  • Read and understand prints and drawings.
  • Read calipers or measuring equipment.
  • Update work orders and pallet tags
  • Update skid tags and move parts to proper areas.
  • Use and locate different metals and know how to scrap parts.
  • Know the quality system, buy-off procedures, AQL, peer review inspections and how to record entries.
  • Keep area clean and organized.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the setup and operation of drilling, sawing, deburring, time saving, grinding, countersinking, and tapping or shearing equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend standard instructions, short correspondence, and memos, including instructional and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to present information in one-on-one group situations with fellow employees and customers.
  • Ability to make basic mathematical calculations related to daily job functions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to apply commonsense in understanding and carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    • Education and Experience :

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1-2 years of related experience and / or training

    • Additional Requirements :

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, with assistance.
  • Some kneeling, stooping, bending, and standing.
  • Excellent wrist strength
