Product Design Manager

Role responsibilities

As a Product Designer, combine craft expertise and leadership skills with an understanding of customers and the business to co-create innovative solutions to complex problems and influence product strategy.

Key competencies

Product Design Expertise : demonstrate skill across interaction, visual and service design; work with cross-functional partners to inform tool usage, platforms, frameworks and design systems; create artifacts such as journey maps, blueprints, high-fidelity designs and prototypes.

Leadership : lead design projects, direct and delegate work for junior team members, build partnerships with cross-functional stakeholders, and mentor to mature the design practice at Capital One.

Human-Centered : balance partner and stakeholder needs with data, research insights, scalability and tech constraints to deliver customer-centered and inclusive design.

Business-Focused : apply insights on customers, competitors and market trends to business challenges and align the team on a shared point of view.

Problem-Solving : understand tech and data capabilities and emerging technologies to inform work and help cross-functional teams move faster within technical constraints.

Collaboration : foster cross-functional collaboration across lines of business to bridge information gaps and drive product strategy.

Communication : present work across levels using a human-centered approach that integrates design frameworks, data and research insights to influence strategic decisions at senior levels.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications : At least 5 years of experience in a Product Design role; At least 5 years of experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma.

Preferred Qualifications : At least 6 years of experience in a Product Design role; At least 6 years of experience in design and prototyping tools such as Figma; experience with an established design system; experience collaborating with product, tech and business partners; experience leading design projects or teams; experience in heavily regulated, data-heavy problem spaces.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Locations include McLean, VA; New York, NY; Riverwoods, IL; and other locations with pay ranges aligned to the respective location. The actual offer will be reflected in the candidate’s offer letter.

Locations and salary ranges (examples) :

McLean, VA : $158,400 - $180,800; New York, NY : $172,800 - $197,200; Riverwoods, IL : $144,000 - $164,400.

This role is eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include cash bonuses and long-term incentives. Capital One offers a comprehensive, inclusive set of health, financial and other benefits. Eligibility varies by status.
