The Opportunity
As the Sr Engineer, Elec Rel, Mill, your primary responsibility is investigating and resolving electrical reliability issues within the facility. Maintain close working interaction with the maintenance team (Mechanical and Electrical) along with other stakeholders such as Mill Leadership, Production, Corporate Reliability Group (EMS), key 3rd party contractors (OEMs, consultants, etc.) and SMEs within Smurfit WestRock to identify and resolve safety and reliability opportunities of the electrical assets at the mill. Assist in outage and shutdown execution as required.
Responsibilities
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of critical Electrical Systems and Equipment, including power generation / distribution, transformers, switchgear, protection relays, low / high voltage motors and starters, UPS and battery charger systems, VFDs / soft starters, electrical actuators, grounding, lighting, cathodic protection, portable electrical equipment, etc.Collaborate with maintenance teams and stakeholders to identify and resolve safety and reliability opportunities for electrical assets at the mill.Provide technical expertise to improve electrical equipment reliability by evaluating and / or redesigning equipment and systems; address reliability improvements for low, medium, and high voltage installations.Support training programs for maintenance and operations personnel for safe and reliable operation of electrical distribution systems.Lead or support root cause analysis (RCA) efforts and document recommendations with implementation / close-out follow-ups.Develop and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) programs for electrical equipment and maintain reliability and availability through PM / PDM strategies.Assist outage planning and developing electrical work scopes and execution plans.Design and implement long-term continuous improvement projects to improve electrical reliability.Participate in weekend call support on a rotating basis.Remain current on electrical standards, techniques, and practices, including NEC and NFPA70E.Experience with synchronous motor maintenance and troubleshooting.Lead electrical outage teams, including temporary power setup and execution.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (preferred).5+ years of work experience in electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment.Knowledge of safe electrical work practices and industry codes.Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems.Knowledge of AC and DC motors, motor controls, and electrical protection schemes.Knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs, and controls.Experience with Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (e.g., SAP, Passport, JDE).Knowledge of relay coordination, arc flash hazard and short-circuit analysis (preferred).What We Offer
