Transportation / Site Development Engineer – Professional Engineer (PE)

Location : Jacksonville, IL (HQ) | Flexible within Illinois / Missouri region | Remote considered for strong candidates

Compensation : $80,000 – $175,000 (flexible for senior candidates)

About the Role

We are seeking a Transportation / Site Development Engineer (PE) to be the technical anchor of our transportation team. This is a rare opportunity to step into a pivotal role where you’ll not only deliver complex roadway projects but also mentor junior staff and help shape the future of the transportation group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design for transportation / site development projects (with focus on MoDOT or IDOT standards)
  • Manage projects from planning through construction
  • Mentor and develop a young team of engineers (2–3 years exp. and recent grad)
  • Provide technical expertise in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer
  • Collaborate with clients, agencies, and cross-discipline teams
  • Help position the firm to pursue larger infrastructure opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 5–10+ years of roadway / transportation design experience
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (IDOT preferred)
  • Proven experience mentoring and leading junior staff
  • Strong communication skills and ability to integrate into a long-tenure, tight-knit culture
