This exciting position entails visiting long-term care facilities and assisting in delivering dental care. You'll play a vital role in maintaining clinical records and ensuring medical equipment is clean and well-maintained.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist in providing excellent patient care with prompt and courteous service.
- Review, verify, and maintain accurate clinical records, charts, and medical history through electronic medical records.
- Ensure integrity and accuracy in all documentation.
- Update patient odontograms for each patient visit.
- Efficiently pass instruments and supplies to the dentist during procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the treatment area by managing evacuation, washing, isolating, drying, and lighting.
- Collaborate with the branch office to enhance dental scheduling and reporting.
- Manage patient flow during facility visits and assist with wheelchairs as needed.
- Balance and generate daily production reports for the dentist upon departure.
- Timely post dental charges to the appropriate provider.
- Care for and clean medical equipment responsibly.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate with appropriate resources.
- Schedule and conduct planned maintenance for dental equipment.
- Ensure the service area is cleaned after each visit.
- Inspect and maintain the vehicle's condition, including routine maintenance like oil changes and refueling.
- Manage dental supply inventory by auditing stock, anticipating needs, and placing orders.
- Prepare supplies efficiently to minimize waste and duplication.
- Confirm all dental equipment is operational through preventive maintenance and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
- Assist the dentist with diagnostics by exposing and processing digital dental radiographs.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene practices.
- Demonstrate strong multitasking, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service skills.
- Possess strong knowledge of medical and dental terminology.
- Ensure a positive experience for all patients.
- Adhere to all OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, providers, and staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries and document interactions in the EMR.
- Willingness to travel frequently, up to 100% of the time.
- Support and comply with all aspects of the compliance program, including training and reporting suspected violations.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and PHI guidelines at all times.
- Adapt positively to changes and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.Preferred experience as a medical / dental assistant.Must have reliable transportation, a good driving record, and car insurance.Completion of a two-step Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test is required.Hepatitis B vaccination is preferred.State radiation license or certificate is required.Good computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology are essential.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must.Ability to follow directions and understand the needs of patients and doctors.Physical Demands : This position requires full range of motion, including manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to stand, walk, push, and stoop frequently, with lifting requirements varying by specialty division (Dental : 50 pounds or more). Ability to push patients in wheelchairs is necessary. Requires corrected vision and hearing within a normal range. Must be able to work under stress and during irregular hours, with potential exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
