Description :

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery specialty.

The nurse will work 12-hour night shifts.

The schedule includes working every other weekend.

The shift hours are from 1830 to 0700.

Guaranteed hours are 36 per week.

The nurse will be responsible for managing labor, delivery, and postpartum care for patients.

The unit has a total of 8 labor and delivery beds, 6 overflow beds, and 40 postpartum beds.

There are 7 triage beds available in the Labor and Delivery unit.

The average number of births per year is between 1800 and 2000.

The nurse will work with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1 : 2 during labor, 1 : 1 during delivery, and 1 : 3 in triage.

For postpartum care, the couplet ratio is 1 : 4.

The nurse may take on charge nurse duties while also having a patient assignment.

The unit operates under a Baby Friendly initiative.

The hospital has an in-house laborist, anesthesia, and neonatologist available 24 / 7.

Nurse aides or OB technicians will be present to assist with C-sections and patient care if needed.

There is no call requirement, but extra shifts can be picked up if desired.

Orientation will include 1-2 shifts with a preceptor to ensure proper training on floor-specific tasks.

The nurse should be comfortable charting in the Cerner system.

Cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled over the assignment duration.
