Construction Accountant

The Construction Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial health of the company, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, and providing accurate financial reporting. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable with construction accounting and project-based finances. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be able to provide financial insights to support project budgeting, cost control, and overall company growth.

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, preparing detailed financial statements and reports for company leadership.

Oversee project cost accounting, working with project managers to monitor budgets, track expenses, and ensure projects remain within financial targets.

Handle AP / AR processes, including vendor payments and customer invoicing, while maintaining strong cash flow and efficient billing practices.

Manage payroll for both office and field employees, ensuring compliance with labor laws and industry standards.

Assist with creating and monitoring budgets, providing insights on cost control, and tracking actual expenses against forecasts.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA is preferred but not required.

5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry or a project-based business.

Proficient in accounting software (such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Viewpoint) with strong skills in Excel. Experience with job costing and project accounting software is a plus.

Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy, detail, and the ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial team members.
