Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III Neonatal ICU (NICU) position requiring a CA RN license and the ability to read and interpret strips.
Responsibilities
Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of an acute care hospitalUnit has 20 beds and cares for neonates with congenital abnormalities, feeders / growers, and ventilated patientsNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 or 1 : 212-hour night shifts with every other weekend requiredMust work holidays as part of the permanent staff rotationNo floating requiredUses Cerner EMR systemCharge nurse does not typically take patients and there are no nurse aides on unitRespiratory therapist, neonatologist, and pharmacy available on unit 24 / 7Vents are managed by RT but nurse must titrate drips and read telemetry / monitor stripsNavy scrubs are requiredMain responsibilities include providing critical care to neonates, titrating drips, and monitoring telemetryThree shifts of orientation will be providedA Relias Dysrhythmia exam must be passed prior to offer; a sterile technique test will be administered on orientation dayCandidates who fail required tests twice may be disqualified from employment for six months at certain facilitiesPrevious employees of CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year are not eligibleHoliday coverage is required as part of the unit rotationNo first-time travelers acceptedRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least Level III NICU experienceCurrent BLS, NRP, and NIHSS certifications required (copies of active certifications must be provided; pending not accepted)Must be able to read and interpret strips and titrate dripsCerner EMR experience is preferredReferences required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibilityCopy of driver’s license must be providedBenefits
