Oregon Resident Consultant (RC)
Job Summary :
As an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant (LTC), you are a seasoned tax professional with the legal authority to prepare, advise on, and supervise personal income tax services in Oregon. You bring advanced expertise, leadership, and strategic insight to our tax offices, ensuring compliance, quality, and exceptional client service. LTCs serve as consultants in residence, providing oversight and guidance to Licensed Tax Preparers (LTPs) and leading complex tax engagements.
Key Responsibilities :
Supervisory Oversight
- Serve as the consultant in residence, physically present at the principal or branch office at least 50% of the time during peak season and monthly for year-round offices.
- Provide direct supervision and support to Licensed Tax Preparers (LTPs), ensuring compliance with Oregon regulations and H&R Block standards.
- Foster a culture of accountability, ethical practice, and continuous learning.
Advanced Tax Preparation & Filing
Prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns.Analyze financial data, calculate tax liabilities, and ensure accurate filing with federal and state agencies.Resolve escalated tax issues and ensure quality control across all returns.Expert Tax Advice & Planning
Deliver strategic tax advice to clients year-round, including guidance on deductions, life events (e.g., divorce, inheritance), and investment impacts.Develop long-term tax planning strategies to help clients reduce taxable income and defer liabilities.Tax Law Research & Compliance
Stay current on federal and Oregon tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.Conduct research to ensure clients benefit from all legal tax-saving opportunities and remain compliant.Client Representation
Represent clients during audits or inquiries from the IRS or Oregon Department of Revenue.Advocate for accurate reporting and minimized liabilities.Professional Standards & Education
Adhere to Oregon’s professional code of conduct, including integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and ethical advertising.Complete 30 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) annually, including a minimum of 2 hours in ethics.Qualifications :
Active Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant (LTC) certification.Proven experience in complex tax preparation and client advisory.Strong leadership and supervisory skills.Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical standards.Preferred IRS Enrolled Agent designation
