Title : Technical Writer (Manufacturing Domain)

Duration : 6 Months (with potential to extend)

Location : Hemlock, MI

Description :

Local candidates only.

Minimal travel is expected for this role with it being on-site at the Michigan plant.

This is an ITAR facility. Candidates must be complaint with DOD / ITAR requirements and be US citizens or nationals.

Scope of Position :

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation of processes and equipment for use by engineers, technicians, trades, or operators such as standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and training documents.

As a Technical Writer, you will collaborate with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.) to collect data and information to utilize in developing documentation in a new manufacturing facility.

The Technical Writer will also help to coordinate and train a small group of junior technical writers.

Key Responsibilities :

Coordinating the task and workplan for team members to meet project schedule

Providing hands on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting

Support start-up and qualification of equipment.

Coordinating installation plan with safety and plant receivers

Conferring with client's engineers and vendors to resolve equipment operational and maintenance procedural issues / questions / discrepancies.

Ensure safe work practices

Updating equipment and safety documentation

Top skills / requirements :

5 years as a Tech Writer in a manufacturing environment

Minimum of Associates required, Bachelors preferred

Minimum Experience : 5 Years

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM field is preferred, but will consider candidates with extensive experience without the degree.

Proven experience as a Technical Writer (or in a similar role) in a manufacturing environment

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.

Ability to understand complex technical information and translate it for non-technical audiences.

Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat or similar documentation software.

Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Travel Requirements :
