Staff Accountant

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In this role, you will support daily accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and contribute to month-end and year-end processes. Responsibilities :

Oversee daily accounting operations and review the work of other team members to ensure accuracy.

Process inventory adjustments and analyze variances to maintain accurate records.

Prepare and post journal entries while assisting with month-end closing activities.

Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash and accrual accounts, to ensure financial accuracy.

Provide support during audits by gathering necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.

Assist in the preparation and processing of 1099 forms and other compliance-related tasks.

Collaborate with the accounting supervisor to support various financial processes.

Verify and compare invoices with receiving reports for accuracy before processing.

Accurately code invoices by account, location, and cost center, and enter them into the accounts payable system.

Act as backup for customer billing, ensuring inventory and freight costs are properly verified.

Requirements :

Strong understanding of corporate tax, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.

Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries.

Experience with general ledger reconciliation and related accounting processes.

Familiarity with accounts payable systems and invoice coding.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.

Prior experience in audit support and compliance-related tasks is a plus.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
