Position : Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventive maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, advanced diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile / field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, differentials.
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre- / post-trip inspections.
- Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, and resolve problems.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks and prioritize work-related activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) using iOS device and TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone for approvals on repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations.
- Maintain company-issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre- / post-trip inspections.
Requirements
High School Diploma / GED and 3 years' experience in related field (or equivalent combination).Possess hand tools necessary for job duties.Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.Complete DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.Current valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining (or DOT physical).
At least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver's license.Required Certifications (within 18 months)
