Transportation Analyst ISO Container Shipments

Start Date : October 6th End Date : Early March Schedule : MondayFriday, hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite) Hours : 8 : 00 AM 5 : 00 PM Salary : $30.00 per hour

Position Summary : The Transportation Analyst will be responsible for coordinating, analyzing, and optimizing ISO container shipments across domestic and international lanes. This role ensures timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of bulk and packaged goods, while maintaining alignment with carrier contracts, customs regulations, and company service-level expectations.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Plan, monitor, and execute ISO container shipments (import, export, and domestic repositioning).
  • Track and report on shipment KPIs (on-time delivery, dwell time, demurrage / detention, cost-to-serve).
  • Liaise with steamship lines, drayage providers, railroads, and depots to ensure accurate scheduling and container flow.
  • Support carrier negotiations and provide analysis on spot market vs. contract performance.
  • Partner with internal teams on customs documentation, HS codes, Incoterms, and bonded warehouse / FTZ processes.
  • Investigate and resolve shipment delays, capacity constraints, and service failures.
  • Maintain accurate data in TMS / ERP (SAP, Power BI, or similar platforms) for tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly / monthly logistics scorecards and cost reports for leadership review.
  • Recommend process improvements for ISO fleet utilization, cost savings, and service enhancement.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 25 years' experience in transportation, container logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Knowledge of ISO container movements (bulk liquid or chemical industry preferred).
  • Familiarity with customs clearance, HS codes, bonded warehouses, and FTZ operations.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel / Power BI / SAP or TMS platforms.
  • Effective communicator with ability to interact across internal teams and external carriers.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and negotiation skills in logistics / transportation settings.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience in chemical, oil & gas, or bulk liquid shipping.
  • Understanding of Incoterms and global trade compliance.
  • Prior involvement in RFPs, rate benchmarking, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
