GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Superintendent, Fleet Operations. The Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, maintenance and repairs of all light equipment, trucks, sewer cleaning trucks, dump trucks, automotive and heavy equipment on all types, makes and models

Immediately report injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous safety improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, minor and major repairs on all types makes, models of vehicles, trucks, and equipment, gas, diesel, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, vacuum systems, and water pumps, small and large.
  • Documents all maintenance and repairs.
  • Researches and updates preventive maintenance schedules, creates work orders for work performed.
  • Checks for proper invoicing from vendors. Verifies correct parts and inventory data.
  • Orders and receives all automotive and heavy equipment parts, materials, and supplies through various vendors and maintains a need-based inventory
  • Procures common and uncommon parts through research in the repair of automotive and heavy equipment.
  • Applies and practices a safe work environment and adheres to federal, state and local environmental regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required to support River Authority operations.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

  • This position does not supervise employees.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining and repairing gas / diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air conditioning systems, automotive, truck, sewer truck vacuum systems and water pump small and large for pressure trucks; or a certificate of completion in automotive service from an accredited college or university or vocational / technical training institute; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • ASE automotive or truck certification, or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • A / C certification, State Inspector license, or the ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Valid Class "A" Commercial Texas Driver's license or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire date, preferred.
  • Earned certification of completion in automotive technology or related field from a technical school, preferred.
  • ☒ Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.
