Staff Services Analyst

This position will be in-person, in Weaverville, CA. The interview process will take place in-person.

Under direction, to perform professional level analytical duties involving general, administrative and / or fiscal analysis work and participate in special studies or projects; to create and present analytical results, and to perform work as required.

The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required :

  • Gather, tabulate, analyze and chart data; draws organization, workload and other charts; prepares reports and makes recommendations on procedures, policies and program alternatives; presents data and reports to management and makes recommendations on performance, financial, client and other administrative systems; review and analyze proposed legislation and advise management on the potential impact; make decisions in financial, and other administrative systems of average to difficult complexity; monitors contracts; writes a variety of complex reports, prepares correspondence; provides assistance to supervisor where necessary and perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Education and Experience :

    Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be :

    Staff Services Analyst I :

  • Two (2) years (60 semester or 90 quarter) of college units; AND Two (2) years of full-time technical level experience involving general administrative, personnel, fiscal, staff development, or program work.
  • Substitution :

    Additional progressively responsible para-professional experience performing complex duties of a technical nature in any of the functional areas noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

    Staff Services Analyst II :

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree AND One year of experience as a SSA I or equivalent OR Four years of professional experience performing document and data management, record keeping, data analysis and reporting, and making data-driven recommendations to management AND One year of experience as a SSA I or equivalent.
  • Licenses and Certifications :

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's license.
  • Typical Physical Requirements :

    Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operated standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects up to 25 pounds.

    Typical Working Conditions :

    Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees will interact with staff and / or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

    Distinguishing Characteristics :

    This classification is responsible for performing various staff administrative and analysis work. Work may include diverse special projects with rigid deadlines. The Staff Services Analyst (SSA) I level is the entry level into the professional Staff Services series. Incumbents work under close supervision. Assignments are generally limited in scope and under the direction of a higher-level employee. As experience is gained, the incumbent is granted more independence from supervision. Most incumbents may promote to the II level after one year of satisfactory performance; however, positions limited to analytical duties of a more routine, repetitive nature will be permanently allocated to the Staff Services Analyst I level. The Staff Services Analyst II level is an experienced level in the SSA class series. Incumbents are expected to perform a wide range of assignments with minimal direction and supervision. This class is distinguished from SSA I by the fact that incumbents are expected to perform the full range of assignments with minimal guidance and supervision.

    Salary :

    Staff Services Analyst I : $4289.27 - $5748.03 per month

    Staff Services Analyst II : $4738.02 - $6349
