The Medical Office Prior Authorization Specialist is the point of contact for patients, and medical staff for all prior authorization needs. This position is responsible for initiating and securing Prior Authorizations for specialty services like TMS, Spravato, medications and maintaining accurate patient records. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Requirements :

WHAT WILL BE YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES?

  • Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
  • Collect patient information to be communicated to insurance carriers for authorization of specialty treatments
  • Monitor faxes and office communications specific to Prior Authorizations
  • Collect and verify patient insurance information and demographics
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
  • Respond to patient inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff member
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, faxing, and copying
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, nurses, and physicians for seamless workflow
  • Monitor and order office supplies as needed

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in a medical office or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks) a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification helpful
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
