American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Tele / PCU position with night shifts and PCU experience required.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care hospital on a combined Med / Tele / PCU stepdown unitUnit has 32 beds and provides care to adult and geriatric patientsPatient population includes cardiac cath, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, COVID on Bipap, general surgical with cardiac history, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute on chronic conditionsNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 4-5, occasionally 5-6 on nights, and 1 : 3 for PCU overflow patientsRNs are required to titrate drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose DopamineRT equipment such as Bipap and trachs are present on the unitTele monitors are both portable and in-room, supported by a monitor tech at the nurses stationRNs read and interpret their own stripsUses Epic EMR; Epic experience preferredNight shifts, 12 hours in length, with every other weekend and holiday requiredFirst to float to similar units, with floating as helping hands to all areas including MS and ER holds / boardingRNs are responsible for caring for a broad range of medical and cardiac patients, including those requiring advanced monitoring and titratable dripsCharge nurses are present on both shifts and may have a light patient loadPatient care techs support the unit with a goal ratio of 1 : 10Unit orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts on Friday and Saturday of the first weekAny color scrubs are permittedFirst time travelers are welcome to applyHoliday and every other weekend coverage is requiredA maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) per 13-week contract must be disclosed up front; no additional RTO will be approved\n \n Requirements\n
Active ND or compact state RN license at time of application—pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 2 years of recent Med / Tele / PCU RN experience requiredCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications requiredProficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips and titrating cardiac drips requiredReferences required : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, both with employment dates and rehire eligibilityDriver's license must be provided for considerationCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facilityNo previous direct employment (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year\n Benefits\n
