The Senior Freight & Logistics Specialist will play a pivotal role in orchestrating the transportation needs for project-related cargo acquired across the organization. This dynamic position entails expertly coordinating shipments, ensuring strict compliance with global trade regulations, and fostering seamless communication among diverse stakeholders. The Specialist will be instrumental in delivering exceptional logistics support services, enhancing both domestic and international project initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in supply chain, business management, logistics, or a related field and 7 years experience in transportation and logistics management.
Position Details
- Lead the coordination of multi-modal transportation bookings and shipments for a diverse range of cargo, including standard freight, and oversized loads, managing export, import, and domestic logistics seamlessly while keeping all stakeholders informed.
- Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to facilitate smooth transportation across borders
- Lead the support of management initiatives by providing insights into shipping costs and logistics performance.
- Source, qualify, negotiate, and maintain master agreements with select suppliers of transportation and logistics services.
- Participate in estimating and "front end planning" proposal needs of projects by conducting transportation studies and obtaining budgetary pricing for anticipated transportation requirements.
- Develop, optimize and facilitate project-specific transportation and logistics plans to support the project schedule and ensure the cost-effective transportation of engineered equipment and other material.
- Establish, coordinate, and execute scheduled project transportation and logistics activities with selected service providers (this includes truck, rail, and water shipments both domestically and internationally).
- Solid understanding of transportation contract terms and conditions and the ability to negotiate rate and service contracts.
- Conceptual understanding and working knowledge of CTL, Haz Mat, I.A.T.A., IMDG, and DOT.
- Understanding of and experience with Import / Export compliance issues as well as international freight and logistics.
