Utilities Water Department Position

Description

Work involves processing information for utility service accounts. Work is performed under general supervision but requires the use of independent judgment in work methods and procedures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assists utility customers with processing new applications for service, disconnection of service, billing inquiries, meter installation, and complaints. Must be able to handle difficult situations effectively.

  • Performs miscellaneous utility billing account maintenance on system as required for monthly billing process.
  • Prepares service work orders for customer accounts, prepares customer correspondence on computer, and performs filing related to utility customers.
  • Assists with meter reading including creating routes, downloading and uploading readings from the handhelds and other associated reports.
  • Reviews final utility billings for accuracy.
  • Assists with disconnect reports, including written and verbal correspondence with account holders.
  • Posts payments, runs daily transaction reports, and balances cash drawer for utility payments.
  • Assist customers through water conservation and water leak detection.
  • Monitors Lady Lake utility properties for owner transfers and foreclosures to keep Town database up to date.
  • Maintains payment plans.
  • Communicates and assists co-workers, management, citizens, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions of the Town.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of daily utility operations, procedures and activities of customer service.
  • Knowledge of computer use, to include Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform cashier duties.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, citizens, and customers.
  • Ability to handle difficult individuals and stressful situations.
  • Skill in the operation of common office equipment, PC & calculator.
  • Mathematic computation skills.
  • Ability to use sound judgment based on knowledge gained through education and experience with customer service.
  • Education And Experience

  • High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS :
  • Possession of valid driver's license.
