Imagine your day
You clock in on 1st or 3rd shift, review the next work order, and head to the Lathes area supporting our Small and Large Bearing Departments. You’ll download and edit programs, stage raw material, fixtures, and measuring tools, and pre-build tooling while the current job runs. You’ll set up and run multitasking, vertical, and horizontal CNC lathes (and occasionally a manual lathe or drill press) to hold tolerances down to 0.0005 in., inspecting your own work — including first-piece — with hand gauges and CMMs. When something looks off, you loop in the Section Lead or Manufacturing Engineer immediately and help solve it fast.
Throughout the shift, you collaborate with teammates, spot opportunities for Kaizen / SMED, and keep safety, quality, and productivity at the forefront. Materials vary — stainless and duplex stainless, Monel, Hastelloy, nickel alloys, cast iron, carbon steel, bronze — and your process knowledge helps you choose tools, feeds, and speeds to exceed customer expectations. Preventive maintenance and accurate documentation keep machines reliable and deliveries on time. You may also mentor others when asked.
