Position Summary

The Department of Political Science at Temple University's main campus in Philadelphia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations within the College of Liberal Arts, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will have broad expertise in International Security. We conceptualize international security to cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to interstate war; territorial disputes; conflict resolution and peace-building; technology and security; institutions and alliances; terrorism; and related topics. Additional expertise in cybersecurity is desirable but not required. We seek an outstanding scholar and teacher who will contribute to our mission of academic excellence, innovative research, and inclusive education. Review of applications will begin in late October and continue until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by 20 October 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and / or graduate courses in International Relations.
  • Conduct scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed venues.
  • Seek external funding to support research activities.
  • Mentor and advise students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Contribute to departmental, college, and university service.

Qualifications

Required :

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or related field, completed by start date.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship.
  • Preferred :

  • Cybersecurity.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring in diverse and inclusive settings.
  • Evidence of collaborative and interdisciplinary work.

    The Political Science Department in the College of Liberal Arts offers B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs. Additionally, the College offers bachelor's degrees in Global Studies, and Cybersecurity and Human Behavior, and hosts research institutes such the Center for the Study of Force and Diplomacy, Public Policy Lab, and the Center for the Humanities.
