Job Summary
Senior Concrete Paving Engineer , ideally located in AZ, TX, or UT, with concrete paving experience and knowledge of Heavy Highway projects. The position serves as the technical source of information for the project, with thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders. Responds to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders. Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. May assist with supervision and / or training of Field Engineers. The role progresses through three steps (I, II, Senior) reflecting increasing skill and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate understanding of the project management plan components (scope, procurement, environmental, schedule, financial, quality, safety, risk) and change management process.
- Develop procurement schedule and integrate with project CPM schedule; procure materials / equipment; coordinate submittals and ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Understand prime contract, subcontracts, purchase orders, allowances, drawings and specifications; assist budgeting and cost control; demonstrate business acumen within area of responsibility.
- Maintain "As-built" contract documents; compile close-out requirements (OMMs, warranties, etc.).
- Participate in concrete form design and related equipment selection; perform takeoffs for concrete, asphalt concrete, earthwork, and utilities as required.
- Plan, develop, and supervise project team members to ensure relentless execution; prepare and maintain quantity reporting mechanisms; coordinate meeting agendas and minutes; maintain project logs.
- Prepare and review change orders (including time extensions); manage change order log; communicate executed changes to field personnel; prepare cost control budget adjustments.
- Prevent and identify potential claims; quantify and mitigate effects of any claims in a timely manner.
Minimum Job Requirements
Advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology and codes / standards; understanding of interdependencies between functional units.Four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical training, plus minimum 3–4 years of related construction engineering experience.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a multidisciplinary team; capability to supervise / train Field Engineer positions if required.Thorough understanding of Concrete Paving.Physical Requirements
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.).Frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist; occasional bending, stooping, kneeling.Frequent use of computer / phone; must comply with safety standards and procedures.Occasional climbing of stairs / ladders; ability to lift, carry or handle objects; sit / stand / walk for extended periods.Safety Level
