Must-Have :

First timers accepted (must have CVICU experience)

Required to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity

Description :

We are seeking a CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience.

The nurse will be responsible for the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

Care of ventilated patients and post-operative cardiac surgery patients is essential.

The nurse will assist with chest tube insertion and removal.

Pacing management skills are required, including temp pacer and transvenous pacer.

Experience with IV insulin protocols is also necessary.

The nurse must be comfortable with post-operative day 1 heart patients.

Admitting and managing fresh heart patients is expected.

Weekend coverage is required every third weekend.

The average daily census ranges from 1 to 8 patients.

The unit is equipped with 8 staffed beds.

The nurse will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.

Candidates must have experience in medication administration systems.

Proficiency in charting systems is required.

Skills in accessing ports and managing arterial lines are needed.

Experience with blood product administration is preferred.

The nurse will monitor and interpret arterial blood gases.

Isolation precautions and the use of PPE are essential.

The ability to manage and monitor ventilators is critical.

Additional skills in phlebotomy and PICC line management are required.

A strong understanding of infection prevention protocols is necessary.

The nurse may be involved in managing patients requiring high flow nasal cannula and BiPAP.

The candidate must be ready to take on the challenges of a busy CVICU environment.
