Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Customer Officer, the Chief Marketing Officer, Optum Insight and Optum Financial delivers client product marketing, sales enablement and integrated marketing campaigns that help support client acquisition and retention for the Optum Insight and Optum Financial benefits, product portfolio and market segments. This position leads the delivery of member engagement programs for these offerings. This includes business and product specific marketing campaigns, segment campaigns for bundled products and sales materials.

What Youll Do

Supporting the Optum Insight and Optum Financial businesses, this role is responsible for driving patient and member engagement and acquisition, brand transitions and creating national marketing platforms. Increasingly, this team is impacting the strategic direction for an optimal patient experience in all touchpoints.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Models positive, admirable leadership behaviors that are core to a culture of inclusion and belonging, with a focus on developing talent and bringing out the best in people
  • Leads the development of an overall marketing strategy that will drive profitable growth
  • Builds investment strategy for advertising to grow the direct-to-consumer Optum Marketplace into a multi-billion dollar business segment
  • Executes on customer and business priorities through an end-to-end approach to improve customer experience and industry-leading Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Manages development and execution of new enrollment and retention across business lines to meet key targets and performance goals
  • Oversees all aspects of the marketing mix including advertising, direct response marketing, promotion, creative development, collateral development and production, digital strategies including Optum Insight and Optum Financial's external websites, social media, and market research
  • Leads diverse teams across the country with both direct and indirect reporting relationships and supports traditional sales teams to meet growth and retention goals
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies and plans for Optum Insight and Optum Financial overall, as well as for specific markets and service lines in conjunction with strategy and business development
  • Assists in product and market positioning, go to market and launch strategies
  • Leads omni-channel campaigns utilizing best in class campaign management and measurement tools, with a focus on personalization and extending reach
  • Manages large complex budgets across a diverse set of market segments
  • Develops and enforces brand standards across business units, ensuring consistency and adherence to protect the integrity of the Optum brand
  • Serves as a catalyst for innovation for the overall organization and actively seeks new ways to grow and improve
  • Establishes and achieves concrete measurement standards for all marketing activities including financial goals, develops and manages marketing budget and measures and reports return on investment (ROI)
  • Leads and supports team in managing external vendor relationships

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 15+ years of broad-based marketing experience that includes leadership of client and consumer marketing strategy, branding, advertising and communications, and digital marketing and development
  • 10+ years team leadership experience
  • Broad-based knowledge, experience, and results in leading marketing within a large, matrix organization
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically; can be both a strategist and a practitioner - someone who can shape, teach and influence as well as deliver on explicit targets and goals
  • Solid collaboration and teamwork skills and the ability to maintain respect and relationships across the organization while asking questions which challenge the status quo
  • Displays a high degree of organizational agility - the ability to handle large-scale change programs and influence without always having direct control
  • Effective communicator who shapes opinions, overcomes objections, and convinces others of vision and strategy
  • Solid personal communication skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across a broad range of disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing new systems, programs, techniques, and procedures with a track record in achieving financial goals
  • Demonstrated business management ability with a track record of building programs and strategies that drive measurable results
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and lead others through change in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare or Financial Services Marketing
  • Master's degree in Marketing or Business Administration
  • Based in Eden Prairie, MN

    Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution. All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
