Responsibilities Preparation and execution of Architectural and Engineering Consultant Agreements defining Scope of Work, Scope of Services and Fees based on Owner’s Project Requirements, design standards, and system specifications.

Preparing scope of work, scope of services, and solicitations for services including Request for Qualifications / Request for Proposals; evaluating these and providing justification for selection.

Ensuring alignment and accountability between Owner’s requirements and Construction Documents provided to Construction and Supply Chain; managing the quality and timeliness of the AE’s performance.

Review and approval of consultant invoices.

Interaction with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for planning, requirements identification and approvals, and maintaining relations through project completion.

Managing monthly project-specific design work plans, schedules, and budgets.

Effectively daily management of the project design team (internal and external) and Equipment Suppliers to ensure required services are provided pro-actively and professionally to enable other departments to fulfill their roles.

Assigning and managing workload of Consultants to prevent overload and potential quality issues.

Ensuring all current projects are properly documented, designed, and priced per customer / lease requirements.

Participating as Owner’s representative in AOC and OAC meetings; keeping internal stakeholders informed of design elements and changes; coordinating design presentations between Owner group and AE Consultants.

Contributing to the continuous development of program standards and specifications.

Providing guidance to all verticals regarding efficient and cost-effective solutions.

Assisting Product Team and Construction Team on pricing by providing equipment and design guidelines.

As requested, assisting with existing facilities’ capital and Tenant Improvement projects.

Developing design concepts for new projects based on Owner’s Project Requirements and project business case.

Reviewing design appropriateness based on locality specifics, conventions, local experience, climate, workforce, and existing standards.

Ensuring design standards are followed unless project conditions warrant deviations; if deviations occur, obtaining consensus and documenting.

Leading efforts to develop PRO / CON and cost impact reports and presenting to the team for consensus.

Presenting design solutions to internal department representatives and / or Authorities Having Jurisdiction.

Supporting Site / Project Due Diligence Studies.

Supervising and conducting QA / QC reviews of project documentation.

Controlling expenditures within project budget and managing a Value Analysis process to meet cost targets.

All design aspects should be overseen / approved by the appropriate team, especially when exceptions / changes are proposed.

Collaborating with Product Team, Sales / Sales Engineering, and Operations on product to build, options, timeline, and solutions to meet project goals.

Collaborating to discuss new process efficiencies, new products, and data center configurations.

Overseeing consultant strategy and review.

Providing design input and comments in team meetings and formulating solutions to satisfy tenant needs within building constraints.

Interpreting, explaining, verifying, coordinating, and implementing the Basis of Design in cases of specific customer requirements to ensure 100% satisfaction; documenting accordingly.

Participating in global standardization processes when needed.

Knowledge & Attributes Knowledge of contractual and building regulation obligations.

Ability to read and interpret design / construction drawings and specifications, project schedules, and budgets.

In-depth knowledge of all aspects of a construction project, with emphasis on data centers or equivalent facilities (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, security / monitoring, fire detection / suppression, and control systems). IT design project experience is a plus.

Excellent coordination and project management skills.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Familiarity with Building Code in jurisdictions where RDC is active, Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines, and OSHA.

Interpersonal skills to present ideas effectively and evaluate others’ ideas in meetings.

Experience coordinating intra-disciplinary departments to assess needs and program requirements.

Understanding of design and construction budgets and balancing design requirements to the budget.

Ability to develop creative solutions to reduce costs without sacrificing quality and reliability.

Ability to defend the design and articulate the impact of deviations.

Ability to develop and take new design concepts through detailed design, peer review, executive review, construction, and operation.

Understanding of Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical design concepts.

Familiarity with AIA documents is desirable.

Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Bluebeam.

Working knowledge of CAD / Design software (AutoCAD and / or Revit) a benefit.

Experience with BIM and IPD approaches is a plus.

Academic Qualifications & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field; equivalent education / experience. Professional licenses or certifications are desirable but not required.

Required Experience Strong working acumen with CSA and MEP systems development; Architectural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering education or experience is a plus.

Minimum 5 years of experience in data centers or other Critical Facilities or similar projects.

Direct experience with new construction, tenant improvements and capital improvement projects.

Demonstrated project management experience; PMP or PgMP is a plus.

Experience with consultant negotiation and management.

Prior experience leading project teams and coordinating multiple stakeholders.

Experience with Revit and / or other BIM applications.

Physical Requirements Primarily stationary for extended periods; close visual work on a computer.

Dexterity to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other instruments.

Work Conditions & Other Requirements This position is remote with a reliable internet connection.

Some work in a Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises.

Some travel (~25%) to support due diligence, design, and construction across the US.

Some off-hour meetings may be required due to global interactions.

Occasional emergency meetings during off hours or PTO.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided for remote-work expenses and personal device use if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary range : $118,300 – $193,400. All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout depends on performance. Benefits include PTO, medical / dental / vision, life and supplemental insurance, disability, FSA, and 401k.
