POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineering Technician II will provide engineering support in order to maintain the electrical, mechanical, and automation systems across our national footprint of owned and operated sites. The Engineering Technician will be a primary contact for site operators to resolve technical issues as they arise and will work closely with the Electrical Engineering team to carry out project related tasks as needed.
This position will be located in Appleton, WI with requirements to travel up to 50% of the time.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide remote support to operations to analyze, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and automation issues
- Act as the initial point of contact for engineering support requests from our owned and operated sites
- Proficient PLC programming knowledge in order to troubleshoot issues in the field, and make programming changes as requested by Engineering / Operations
- Provide on-site support to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation issues, as needed
- Maintain documentation and hours logs for each support request
- Maintain PLC IO list documentation and change logs, along with an organized equipment manual library
- Be available as a 24 / 7 on-call resource for emergency technical assistance
- Ability to read P&IDs, and electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, panel wiring schematics, and instrument wiring diagrams
- Be able to locate and read technical equipment user manuals in order to troubleshoot certain equipment failures
- Prioritize and manage several tasks and projects efficiently
- Work with the electrical engineering team to gain an understanding of existing and newly installed systems in order to effectively maintain them
- Assist the electrical engineering team on project related tasks including but not limited to : PLC & HMI programming, field support, testing, equipment configuration
- Program Allen-Bradley PLCs using RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, and Studio 5000 software with minimal engineering supervision
- Participate in team meetings to discuss support request work log and articulate issues encountered at the sites on a weekly basis
- Integrate and troubleshoot networking and field devices using communication protocols such as Ethernet / IP, Modbus TCP / IP, Modbus RTU / RS-485 / RS-232, radio and fiber optic communications
- Configure, program, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems with minimal engineering supervision
- Program, configure, and implement HMIs using software such as Wonderware / Aveva InTouch, C-more, Factory Talk View (Allen-Bradley PanelView) with minimal engineering supervision
- Work with local technicians, electricians, and other contractors to troubleshoot and fix issues at our sites
- Monitor and analyze equipment and system performance using data queries and trends
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
