Supervises safety and security services for the Library patrons and employees, facilitating a safe and welcoming Library facility.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Collaborates with leadership team to deliver high quality library services to patrons with an emphasis on safety and security.
• Takes lead in developing, documenting, and managing safety policies and procedures and a safety training program for library staff.
• Recommends for hire, supervises, and develops staff through review of performance data, conferences, counseling, training, and evaluation of performance.
• Coordinates and manages presence and activities of scheduled Library security personnel in the Library and around the building.
• Circulates public service areas inside the Library and around the building, monitoring for safety and security throughout the Library.
• Provides direction and facilitates training to Library staff regarding Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and other safety protocols.
• Reviews safety activity and incident reports for the department; makes recommendations for further action to Library Director and Assistant Director.
• Acts as a steward of the Library by referring customers to other library staff and sources of information in response to customer service requests.
• Educates patrons on library safety and behavioral rules and regulations.
• Escorts disruptive patrons from the Library premises, contacting police when necessary. Manages information about behavior incidents, response, and escalation and communicates necessary information with other Library staff.
• Meets and provides law enforcement agencies and first responders access to secured areas as needed.
• Provides regular reports to management regarding activities, incidents, and necessary action or training identified during or after incidents.
• Works to ensure appropriate shift coverage, attend training, meetings, and / or other activities, as needed, to meet the needs of the Library and the workgroup. Schedule may fluctuate to meet needs.
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education, training, and Experience Guidelines

High School diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

Standing, Walking, Sitting, Fine Dexterity, Bending, Climbing, Crouching, Vision, Hearing, and Talking. Limited outdoor work in hot, cold and / or wet weather conditions.

Hiring Range : $20.24 - $25.36, hourly.
