Fort Drum is a U.S. Army military reservation and a census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, near the western border of northern New York, United States. The population of the CDP portion of the base was 12,955 at the 2010 census. It is home to the 10th Mountain Division.

Fort Drum consists of 107,265 acres. Its mission includes command of active component units assigned to the installation, providing administrative and logistical support to tenant units, support to active and reserve units from all services in training at Fort Drum, and planning and support for the mobilization and training of almost 80,000 troops annually.

Located in the picturesque Thousand Islands Region of northern New York State, this installation is located in one of the most unique and beautiful areas of the United States. Fort Drum is located in Jefferson County, approximately 30 miles from Canada, with the Great Lakes to our west and the Adirondack Mountains to our east. The Adirondack Mountains, Lake Ontario, and the St. Lawrence River in the Thousand Islands Region are prime tourist attractions. Watertown, New York and the tri-county areas of Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence surrounding the installation are rich with history and tradition.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary review / examination of data pertaining to an individual diagnosis and past medical history, compile and organize pertinent information.
• Compile and organize examination information, determine indications and contraindications for treatment and develop treatment programs.
• Implement treatment plans in individual or group settings.
• Provide instruction, education, motivation and in coordination with other personnel as needed, to ensure compliance with stated therapeutic programs and goals.
• Track impact of procedures' effects in patients, long- and short-term effects of different types of therapy, and appropriateness of a specific therapies.
• Document information related to all patients care.
• Perform non-technical maintenance of equipment to prevent malfunctions.
• Performs Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications

Who May Apply : US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and / or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes implementing occupational therapy treatment plans, instructing on occupational therapy programs, or providing occupational therapy status reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade / level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education : A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
