What to Expect As a Lead Material Handler, you will oversee and support day-to-day operations in Tesla's warehouse and production environments, ensuring smooth material flow and inventory accuracy. This role involves managing material movement to and from the production line, training team members, and maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in their hands-on work, excels in problem-solving, and demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills. This role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, and to adjust as needed to support production demands.
What You'll Do
- Assist daily operations of material flow, including receiving, issuing, organizing materials to support production schedules, maintaining inventory accuracy and driving continuous improvements
- Train and develop team members, implementing training plans and managing cross-training and staff rotations
- Monitor material needs for assigned production areas, track real-time progress to delivery targets, and adjust manpower as needed
- Conduct first-level investigations into quality and safety incidents, documenting findings and proposing preventive actions
- Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, tuggers, pallet jacks, and flatbed carts to transport materials to / from production areas and prepare outgoing materials using proper packaging methods
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by following 5S protocols and ensuring proper PPE usage
- Collaborate with supervisors and cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, cost, and productivity
