Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for an APS Investigator position. The successful candidate will join the Adult & Aging program within the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary

Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, complies with federal, state, and local laws and policies and approval of appropriate responses, interventions, and service plans to provide various family services for the County. Investigates reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults ; c onducts unannounced home visits in the community to respond to APS allegations ; g athers and analyzes evidence, interviews relevant parties, and documents findings ; r esponds to emergency calls and provides immediate assistance to vulnerable adults ; a ssess clients' needs and develop protective service plans tailored to each client's situation ; a dvocate for clients' rights and connect them with appropriate resources and services ; m onitor clients' progress and adjust service plans as necessary; m aintain accurate and detailed case records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements; complete necessary federal, state, and local planning and reporting requirements; ensure accurate and timely data entry into required systems; coordinate with other agencies and participate in multi-disciplinary and inter-agency teams to provide comprehensive services to clients; conduct community presentations and serve as a resource to clients and the community in areas of expertise and inform clients of related services programs, rules, regulations, and their rights to participate.

Hiring Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field; OR, a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in a human services area.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in social work, gerontology, or a related field.
  • Experience working in local government or a department of social services.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Adult Protective Services / Adult Services programs and procedures.
  • Significant experience in conducting APS investigations and providing APS on-going case management services to older adults and / or adults with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of social work theory, casework methods, and community organization / resources.
  • Understanding of human behavior and the behavioral sciences, particularly concerning human development, aging, family dynamics, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to engage in sensitive discussions with clients about various aspects of their lives.
  • Capacity to respond effectively in crisis situations.

Bi-lingual skills in Spanish and English.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

  • Must b e available to work day shift, nights, scheduled weekends, and holidays.
  • The successful candidate is required to report to work during times designated countywide as approved for unscheduled leave regardless of the emergency (e.g., weather, transportation, disaster). Candidate may also be required to work and may be assigned to an alternate worksite(s) within the county to carry out duties that support operational needs.
  • The successful candidate must be available for on-call duties as scheduled, ensuring timely and effective response to crisis situations.
  • The successful candidate will obtain specific training such as CPS / Foster Care / APS state training as required or desired for the assigned area.
  • This position requires candidate to undergo CPS, Credit, Criminal, and DMV checks.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid resident driver's license (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification).
