Summary
Reporting to the Design Supervisor, the Senior Designer is responsible for transforming technical requirements into functional designs by creating detailed drawings for approval, fabrication, and / or installation. This role provides assistance to all design staff, as well as to the Project Management team. The Senior Designer will also serve as a mentor to new and existing design staff on topics including, but not limited to, best practices, industry standards, and company specific standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Independently completes all project designs of varying complexity as delegated by supervisorCompletes projects accurately, and on time, adhering to design standardsCreates technical drawings in 2D and 3D following specifications and calculationsRevises drawings and incorporates information into drawings per engineering specificationsPrepares and reviews project drawings along with the engineering team and Project Managers to identify and communicate potential problemsReads and interprets building drawingsWorks collaboratively with Project Engineers and other departmentsIdentifies and communicates potential design problems to the design staff and Project ManagersContributes ideas for continuous improvementQualifications

Education and / or Experience
High School diploma is requiredAssociates or Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering or Building Construction related field preferred3 years of experience in a drafting position preferredTechnical skills
Proficiency working with AutoCAD 2016 or higherFamiliarity with Tekla or other 3D CAD systems preferredUnderstanding of engineering processes, familiarity with engineering information and data sourcesMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) requiredClear understanding of bills of material, drawings, design data, and design standards necessaryAbility to read and interpret complex specifications is requiredFluent in product design principles and the production of structural and mechanical components and systemsGeneral skills
Planning and time management skills : must be able to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks, often conflicting in nature, to achieve commitment datesDetail orientatedAbility to work independently as well as in a teamAbility to work in a Digital environmentAbility to ask questions
