Job Summary
The role of the Model Maker II is to combine sophisticated fabrication talents with advanced problem-solving skills produce various levels of prototypes and models. This position will has attained full proficiency as a Model Maker I and can successfully execute strategies for multifaceted jobs with minimal technical assistance. This position will assist in troubleshooting and adjusting model making processes and procedures to ensure maximum efficiencies and quality. The ability to work under minimal supervision, organize multiple projects and apply high level detail to projects is crucial for success.
Essential Functions
- Independently perform the highest level of complex model making activities to fabricate various levels of prototypes and models in line with company capabilities
- Be sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in technical areas to less experience machinists
- Apply advanced surface detailing techniques and spray finishes to create a variety of distinct effects
- Apply advanced fastener knowledge and methods to install, inspect and clean up threaded inserts and features
- Apply graphics using rub-down transfer process
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using advanced measuring equipment
- Assist with mold creation as needed
- Identify issues and recommend alternative solutions to modify components as required to meet specifications
- Collaborate with Project Managers on project scope, time and costs for quoting purposes
- Assist in researching and evaluating new products and techniques for departmental enhancements
- Perform essential functions of Model Maker I
- Other duties as assigned
