The Technician, Fabricator at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position responsible for constructing and manufacturing metal parts and products for our customers' medium-and heavy-duty trucks. This position reports to the Shop Foreman.
Essential Duties :
- Performs work as outlined on work order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Measures, cuts, bends, and shapes metal materials using hand tools, power tools, and machinery
- Welds or solder metal components using MIG, TIG, or arc welding techniques
- Assembles metal structures and ensures proper alignment and fit.
- Performs entry-level mechanic work on roll-off and dump trucks.
- Performs quality checks to ensure finished products meet specifications
- Documents all work performed.
- Maintains tools and equipment and follows safety protocols.
- Collaborates with team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Technical training or certification in welding or fabrication preferredProven experience in metal fabrication or a related field1-3 years of heavy truck mechanic experience preferredAbility to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsProficiency with fabrication tools and welding equipmentStrong attention to detail and manual dexterityAbility to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periodsCommitment to workplace safety and quality standardsMust have own set of toolsBasic computer skillsPhysical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
