PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location : Lorain, Ohio (44053) – Ohio nursing jobs

Healthcare Setting : PCU / Stepdown Unit (33 beds)

Assignment Type : Travel RN, locum tenens

Contract Length : 13–16 weeks

Shift : 12-hour nights (PM); every other weekend and holiday

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1570–$1680

Patient Ratios : 1 : 5–6 (acuity dependent)

Patient Population : Cardiac telemetry, vascular, med-surg, post cath, post pacemaker

Start Date : September 8, 2025

End Date : December 29, 2025

PCU RN Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state

Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU / Stepdown nursing preferred)

BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required

Dysrhythmia Exam required (study guide available)

Proficiency in reading and verifying telemetry strips in EPIC

Travel nursing experience not required

Navy blue scrubs required

PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans

Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Lasix, Heparin, Insulin)

Monitor and manage lines, drains, and devices : PICCs, dialysis catheters, PEG tubes, ostomies, foleys, chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs

Provide advanced airway management (trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, nasal cannulas)

Collaborate with ancillary healthcare staff (PCAs, unit secretary, phlebotomy) for comprehensive clinical support

Serve as a patient advocate and safety champion, participating in quality improvement initiatives

Educate patients and families, coordinate care with hospital departments

Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions and medical emergencies
