Position Overview :
The Video Engineer is responsible for the engineering of video systems and subsystems at TechMDinc. Working with Systems Designers and Project Management, they provide engineering solutions that meet or exceed our clients’ creative vision and needs. VIDEO Engineers draw on resources from the Engineering and Design Documentation groups to create, specify, document, and deliver compelling display solutions that are innovative, elegant, transparent, and built upon a solid foundation of rigorous engineering.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Design & Engineering : Develop and validate video systems including projection studies, pixel maps, and hybrid media layouts. Collaborate with Systems Designers to translate client input into effective engineering solutions.
- Documentation : Create detailed technical documents such as wiring diagrams, block diagrams, mounting plans, equipment schedules (including size, weight, power, and HVAC requirements), and operation manuals.
- Client Interaction : Lead meetings to understand project goals, present solutions, and manage scope changes. Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
- Installation & Integration : Support field teams during installation and integration. Tasks include directing installers, configuring and calibrating equipment, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with media and show control setup.
- Testing & Adjustment : Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), perform projector / display calibration, and ensure systems meet performance requirements.
Other Responsibilities :
Technical Support : Provide warranty support and act as a subject matter expert for installed systems and technologies.Cross-Team Collaboration : Coordinate with design, project management, and production teams to ensure cohesive project execution.Process Improvement : Contribute to the development of engineering standards and identify opportunities for workflow enhancements.Technology Research : Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new products for potential integration.Mentorship : Train and support junior engineering staff, sharing expertise and fostering professional growth.Please Note : The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Requirements and Qualifications :
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in computer-aided drafting and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Bluebeam)Experience with video server platforms such as 7thSense, Disguise, Pixera, BrightSignFamiliarity with video prediction tools (e.g., Mapping Matter, Immersive Designer, manufacturer-specific software)Knowledge of 3D modeling tools (e.g., Blender, Rhino, Maya)Use of video calibration tools (e.g., CalMAN, Spyder, DisplayCAL)Strong understanding of display technologies, systems, and componentsWorking knowledge of IP networking and electrical power systemsExperience with equipment database applications (Quickbase preferred)Proficiency in project management softwareSkilled in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applicationsPhysical & Communication Requirements :
Ability to move within installation environments, including stooping or kneeling to access AV equipmentCapable of lifting equipment weighing 25–50 pounds to a height of 3–4 feet and loading into vehiclesStrong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and clientsPreferred Qualifications :
