Overview

Nearly every company relies on custom software for critical operations, from tracking performance metrics to handling customer support workflows and building admin dashboards. Retool is building the first enterprise AppGen platform : software that translates natural language into production-ready code, integrates with business data, and upholds high security and governance standards. AI is redefining software development, expanding the definition of who is a developer to include analysts, operators, and domain experts creating solutions directly. The opportunity is large, and so is the need to enable a broader community to build production-grade software safely with enterprise guardrails and reusable components.

Over 100 million hours of work have been automated by developers and domain experts using our platform, freeing them to focus on creative problem-solving and strategic initiatives. Our mission is to empower teams to create safe, scalable custom solutions within enterprise guardrails.

Let’s build the future together.

What you’ll do

As a member of the Core Infrastructure team, you’ll design, build, and automate the systems that make Retool reliable, secure, and fast at scale. You’ll own the backbone of our platform—compute, storage, CI / CD, reliability, and performance. This is a high-leverage role : your work will directly shape how every engineer at Retool builds, ships, and scales. You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, design, and GTM teams to ensure Retool runs seamlessly for customers of all sizes and scales well beyond today.

The skillset you’ll bring

  • 4+ years of related professional experience with containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform), and observability stacks (e.g., Datadog, Stackdriver, Wavefront, Grafana)
  • A strong understanding of system availability, resiliency, and recoverability
  • A track record of building productive, collaborative relationships within an engineering organization and across the company
  • Experience scaling relational databases (Postgres preferred) and good knowledge of cloud, on-prem, traffic routing, and multi-region service architecture
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment and willingness to learn new skills and technologies
