GENERAL SUMMARY : \n\n
At the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and / or Licensed Practitioners, the Staff Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) contributes to meeting patients priority needs by assessing and participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing delegated care and timely communication of the patients response. The Staff LPN contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit of assignment including but not limited to
\n\n
2. age-specific competencies relative to patients growth and development needs and annual skill competency verification.
\n\n
3. Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing applications and relative practice area.
\n\n
4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
\n\n
5. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
\n\n
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality relative to sensitive information.
\n\n
7. Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, tact and professionalism.
\n\n
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse
\n\n
patient populations.
\n\n
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes, and those who are dying.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
\n\n
Graduation from a School of Practical Nursing with current licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and / or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards / regulations.
\n\n

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
\n\n
\n\n
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
\n\n
\n\n
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
\n\n
