Job Summary The City of St. Peters is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Permit and License Specialist . This role will be a key player on our team responsible for processing permits and licenses, maintaining accurate records, performing basic accounting duties, and providing advanced clerical support to ensure smooth office operations. The Permit and Licensing Specialist provides customer service to residents, businesses, contractors and vendors as well as internal staff. The role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to manage confidential information, and the capacity to balance multiple priorities in a team environment.

Normal Shift : Monday-Friday; 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Process permits and licenses applications, reviews incoming licensing renewals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and county requirements.
  • Perform basic accounting duties, including posting payments and reconciling records.
  • Maintain permit, licensing, and office files, as well as databases and reporting systems.
  • Assists in responding to public records requests.
  • Research and assist with implementing new procedures in response to regulatory changes.
  • Prepare, analyze, and monitor reports, data, and other supporting documentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, businesses, and internal departments.
  • Order supplies, maintain inventory, and support daily office operations.
  • Perform all work in compliance with established City safety standards.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • High School graduate or GED certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of applicable office experience
  • Must be able to type 40 cwpm.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software computer application programs.
