Responsibilities Position is in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a hospital setting Care for both PICU (80%) and NICU (20%) patient populations Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2, or 1 : 3 for IMC level patients Patient diagnoses include congenital cardiac disorders, cardiac cath recovery, DKA, respiratory illness, surgical cases, medically complex cases, and behavioral health Special procedures include CRRT, mechanical ventilation, ABG interpretation, vasopressor titration, and care for trach patients Day shifts are scheduled as 4x12 hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 30 Every other weekend and every other holiday required Floating required within the specialty, including NICU, Pediatric ED, and Pediatric Progressive Care No on-call responsibilities Care for critically ill pediatric and neonate patients with diverse diagnoses Will be required to float within all pediatric specialties as necessary First-time travelers are accepted for this position Return travelers must have a 6-month gap from previous assignments; former staff must be separated for 12 months before returning as travelers Candidates cannot request block scheduling or scheduling restrictions Holiday and RTO (Requested Time Off) expectations must be provided at submission and cannot be changed later Compliance includes completing required CPI certification online if not already obtained General orientation modules are required before beginning assignment Requirements Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum of 2 years recent PICU experience required Certifications required : BLS and PALS (AHA only); CPI certificate preferred NICU experience is accepted but must be comfortable in both PICU and NICU environments Must provide two satisfactory professional references, including at least one supervisor / manager and one charge RN Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the hospital Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-621224.
